BURGUNDY is the heart of France and with over 900kms of waterways, superb food & wine, a rich legacy of art, architecture & culture and close proximity to Paris, it is perfect for barge cuising. The Burgundy Canal links the Seine and Saone rivers and a tunnel at the summit divides it into two regions; the Yonne side (WEST) and Cote d’Or side (EAST).
EASTERN Burgundy is based around Dijon and includes the Cote d’Or side of the Burgundy Canal, the Saone River and the Canal du Centre. The Burgundy Canal descends through the beautiful, wooded Ouche Valley to Dijon, then crosses the flat plains to the Saone river. The river flows south past the world-famous Cote d’Or vineyards to Chalon-sur-Saone where the Canal du Centre connects it with the Upper Loire via the Cote de Beaune vineyards.
